Jazz and Improvisation Group workshops

For larger groups of mixed instruments, Harry is joined by the remarkable Simon Bates. Simon is Professor of saxophone for the Royal Marines and counts names such as Jamie Cullum, Chaka Khan and John Etheridge on his CV. Together Harry and Simon are hugely experienced ensemble players in almost every style, and they run this two hour workshop covering all aspects of group playing and solo building, followed by an evening concert where they perform their amazing two-handed multi-instrument cabaret and end with a performance accompanying the students.

"I would highly recommend Harry and Simon to any education establishment that wishes to inspire and enthuse their pupils"
Paul Christmas, Head of Jazz at the London Community Music Service

Mixed Instrumental Workshops

If your establishment has jazz or rock groups of a high standard, for the ultimate workshop experience we add Dave Swift, Jools Holland's well-known bassist, and Chris Dagley, resident at Ronnie Scott’s club to Harry, Simon Bates on saxophone and Dave Ital on guitar. These fantastic professionals will spend a day with up to four different ensembles giving young players a unique opportunity to learn from and perform with some of Britain’s finest professional musicians. Once again we add an evening performance where the band will play a first set and join the ensembles for the second half.

“Exciting”, “amazing”, “awesome”, “wow” – these were just a few of my pupils' comments after your inspirational workshop and concert the other day!
Lee Hextall, director of the Lincolnshire Jazz and Rock Academy
